De-dusting system
August 1st 2008

Wavin, manufacturer of plastic pipe and ducting, has installed a safe, efficient method for personnel de-dusting at its factory in Durham.

According to George Hutchinson, production manager, the dustiest area is the mixing department where plastics granules and grains, fillers (chalk) and stabilisers are combined. all personnel in this area are provided with overalls.

A blower powered 'JetBlack' from Air Control Industries was installed to de-dust personnel as they move around the plant and prior to going home.

The device was originally taken on a week's trial and proved so successful that three more were installed.

Hutchinson says the JetBlack is efficient and safe and that staff like it because it is easy to use and effective.

Wall-mounted, it delivers high volumes of air at low pressure (less than 29ft3 of air per minute at less than 2.5psi) which makes it safe to use on bare skin.
