Non-hazardous solution
February 1st 2007

Wheelabrator Group has added two new machines to its SmartLine range to help industries switch to more environmentally-friendly cleaning methods.

SmartLine SL28 and SL48 are manually operated aqueous systems that use non-hazardous bioremediating detergents to remove contaminants such as oil and grease.

Suitable for most components, the machines use a natural method of compound breakdown, encompassing enzymes and bacteria, that are contained in a special Smartwasher mat within the machine.

Clive Ward, general manager of the Cl Wheelabrator Group, comments "These new machines are a safer, environmentally-friendly alternative to solvents and chemicals when removing oil, grease and dirt.

"Bioremediating is a practical method and is equally effective. These machines only need to be emptied every six months, making maintenance straightforward.

"The natural process only attacks the contaminant, not the material being cleaned." Each unit can hold loads of up to 225kg and includes a flexible faucet, allowing operators to aim directly at dirt. A flow through scrubbing brush further aids cleaning precision.
