For fire marshalls
December 1st 2006

The main focus of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 is fire prevention. Since it came into force on 1st October 2006, many organisations have found that they need to re-evaluate their fire safety provision and need to nominate a set amount of fully-trained fire marshalls to meet their legal obligations.

Under the Reform Order, the 'responsible person for the premises must carry out a fire risk assessment and nominate a sufficient number of fire marshalls to assist in implementing the emergency procedures identified in the fire risk assessment.

St. John Ambulance now offers a Fire Marshall training course to meet these new requirements.

Students are taught the practical implications of the role, including how to use fire extinguishers and procedures for fire drills and evacuation. The four hour course presents an insight into the new fire regs and general fire precautions.
