Stop skin infection
February 1st 2004

The Alfie centrifugal separator from Alfa Laval separates out foreign particles from coolant.

Machine operators working with metalworking fluids are prone to skin infections from bacteria, metal fines and swarf which become trapped in the fluid.

Barrier creams and gloves limit the contact but, according to Alfa Laval, the Alfie centrifugal separator represents the best method of reducing the risk of infection.

Alfie removes tramp oil, metal fines and foreign particles down to 1 micron from the coolant or cutting fluid. All the operator has to do is plug it in, attach it to the coolant or cutting fluid tank and let it get on with the job.

Once tramp oils have been eliminated, there is less risk of bacterial growth. Without metal fines and swarf, the risk of skin cuts and abrasions is reduced.
