Lift safety on the up December 1st 2004 As part of an ongoing refurbishment programme, infrared safety edges from TL Jones are being fitted to every public lift in London’s Barbican Centre.
By the time the second phase of the project is finished in the autumn of 2005, 29 lifts will have swapped their mechanical edges for 212-beam, IP65- rated D200SL light curtains.
Chucks Opara, mechanical and electrical project manager at the Barbican, comments “We want to be 100% sure that none of our visitors or staff is ever hit by the door as they enter the lift, and TL Jones’ light curtains ensure that this cannot happen. We are confident that we now have a state-of-the-art system.” More articles from TL Jones: |
