Cabinets the key to safety October 1st 2009 Key management innovator Traka
has helped power company Scottish
and Southern to underline its safety
practices with the installation of its
electronic key cabinets.
Scottish and Southern provides
electricity and gas to 8.45 million
customers. Its Fiddlers Ferry power
station has been recognised by the
British Safety Council for its high safety
standards. Nevertheless, the company
was keen to improve.
Two Traka L Series cabinets have
been installed at Fiddlers Ferry, each
capable of holding up to 180 keys.
Previously, the various teams at the
power station were unable to track
key usage and there was little
accountability for individual key users
– resulting in lost or missing keys.
The Traka system now stores keys for
a range of high value or restricted
access machinery and equipment.
The system enables keys to be issued
at any time with full audit control,
tracking against user licence validity
and competence. More articles from Traka Plc: |
