Heated changing facility
July 1st 2009

Emergency shower manufacturers, Showers & Eyebaths Services, has developed an extension to its artic emergency tank shower unit that provides a heated changing facility, eight of which are being retro fitted to tank showers already in place in the inhospitable oil fields of Kazakhstan.

The company's design satisfied the requirement identified by its Italian distributor, Eusebi Impianti, for a worker not to suffer further injury in the form of hypothermia should they have to use an emergency shower in extreme cold.

Craig Yates, managing director of Showers & Eyebaths said: "Kazakhstan's climate is considered severe with temperatures often reaching down to minus 45°C.

"Our special arctic shower units are designed to withstand such extreme conditions but we needed to go one step further to protect a user both during and after decontamination.

The changing units are heated inside, have spring-loaded doors, for quick and immediate access into the shower area, and are lit both inside." "We have already received feedback that the changing facility is going to be a welcome addition for the added protection of the workers out in Kazakhstan."
