No touch portable hand washing
October 1st 2007

Introduced by Teal, the Hygienius allows individuals to wash their hands without touching a tap.

Simply placing the hands in the bowl triggers a sensor which instantaneously heats water and then delivers a 10sec wash at 40 to 45°C.

The device requires neither plumbing nor drainage which means it is completely portable. It is free-standing and requires just a 13A socket for operation.

Moulded in tough, high impact polyethylene with an acrylic capped ABS bowl, Hygienius is fully automatic with no switches, buttons or settings to be adjusted.

The unit's Tealtainer stores 10L of clean water, enough for 50 x 10sec hand washes, and features a separate compartment to hygienically store dirty water.

The company says the electronically controlled instantaneous heater helps keep energy costs down to as little as one-fifth of a conventionally plumbed-in system.
