Z-fold savings
February 1st 2006

One of the most commonly used products in the awayfrom- home market is the Cfold hand-towel as it is considered cost-effective.

However, Joanne Snowden, senior product manager at Lotus Professional, believes customers should consider whether they are spending too much when less costly options are available.

She explains "Although they may be cheaper to purchase, C-fold hand-towels generate extra costs in the long term because they are difficult to dispense and are often used while still folded.

As users have a smaller surface area to dry their hands, they take more towels to compensate. This leads to excessive waste and higher costs.

"An interleaved Z-fold hand-towel can help to overcome many of these problems. It ensures a single towel is presented open and ready to use each time.

Users will find they need to use fewer towels, so that compared to C-fold, use is better controlled and waste reduced."

Hygiene too is said to be better with the Z-fold version as each towel is selfpresenting, so there is no need for users to touch the dispenser. This decreases the risk of bacteria spreading.
