Noise measures pass test
April 1st 2007

Problems caused by noisy testing plant at a Wirralbased engineering firm have been overcome by an installation from Kimpton Acoustics.

The Faiveley Transport factory designs and manufactures brake control systems for the rail industry and uses a test cell to carry out critical checks.

Relocation of an assembly line adjacent to this test cell presented potentially disturbing noise emissions for personnel.

With a noise survey of test equipment indicating levels of 104dB(A), the double doors on the cell had to be replaced.

Kimpton Acoustics was asked to supply and install a set of high performance acoustic double doors with dual glazed windows and heavy-duty ironmongery.

An independent noise survey carried out after the installation indicated that the potential noise level of 104dB(A) had been attenuated to the predicted background noise level of 60dB(A), well within health and safety regulations.

Bob Jones at Kimpton comments "Our bespoke acoustic doors provided an immediate solution and the installation was completed with minimum disruption to factory production."
