WARNS OF DANGEROUS DISCHARGE ACTIVITY
June 1st 2005

Irish electricity distributor ESB Networks has bought more than 250 EA Technology UltraTEV instruments as standard safety equipment for all personnel involved in operating and inspecting high voltage equipment.

With a single push of a button, staff are given an immediate indication of whether switchgear and transformers are safe from a Partial Discharge perspective. If there is any dangerous discharge activity in the area, UltraTEV’s ultrasonic and transient earth voltage sensors provide an instant warning, enabling them to retreat to safety.

The company believes the device provides a vital safety tool for ESB Networks when operating older types of manually dependant switchgear.
