SOUND LEVEL METER IS SIMPLE TO USE
October 1st 2004

Described as the simplest to use computerised sound level meter in the world, the Assessor from Pulsar Instruments uses just two keys for measurement.

Just one key is used to turn on and start the instrument measuring for as long as is needed. At the end of the measurement when ‘stop’ is pressed, the Assessor automatically computes and displays all the Metrics demanded by health and safety legislation.

To meet international standards, such as IEC 61672:2003, a ‘calibrate’ key is provided and this is also automatic. A Pulsar acoustic calibrator is fitted over the microphone and the Cal key pressed. The Assessor does the rest, setting the calibration value into memory and correcting the measurement.

The final key is a ‘restart’ key. It lets a measurement be paused while, for example, the phone is answered or a break taken.

When ‘restart’ is pressed, the same measurement is resumed without any data loss.

While running, a quasi-analogue bar display shows the user the Assessor is within its measuring range and the current sound level is shown.
