Controlling asbestos
August 1st 2004

The Control of Asbestos at Work regulations have enforced a new explicit duty to manage asbestos in the premises, maintain an asbestos register, assess the risk from materials and take all necessary steps to prevent danger to others. Failure to do so can result in a hefty fine and even imprisonment for up to two years. As a result of the introduction of the Regulations, Liquid Plastics has developed Asbestolok, a range of special asbestos encapsulation systems, that can be used to lock away harmful asbestos fibres and provide protection from the associated dangers. The Asbestolok encapsulation system, once applied, will allow asbestos to be left undisturbed. There are two systems suitable for internal application and two for external application all of which provide a seamless, elastomeric membrane, that allows for thermal movement without cracking and flaking and can be guaranteed for up to 15 years.
