Fewer accidents August 1st 2006 A joint project in the electricity industry involving the companies, trade unions and the Health and Safety Executive is reaping rewards as the number of accidents and days lost through injury has fallen, according to the annual SAFELEC 2010 report published by the Energy Networks Association.
The report, which covers the period January to December 2005, shows the industry has met many of its safety targets five years ahead of schedule. However, Peter McCormick, chair of ENA's health, safety and environment committee is not complacent. He says "ENA companies, with the support of HSE and trade unions will continue to work together to make further improvements up to the end of the SAFELEC 2010 programme and beyond."
