Hearts and minds
June 1st 2009 Since it embarked upon a 'hearts and
minds' health and safety awareness
programme in December 2008,
independent sign installation and
maintenance company, Xmo Strata,
is reported to have seen a huge
statistical improvement in its health
and safety reporting in the first three
months of 2009. Near miss reporting
increased by 176%, with 58 nearmisses
being reported compared to
21 in the same period last year.
MD, Steve Martin, author of a noholds-
barred expose book on health
and safety in the sign industry, said
all companies experience health and
safety problems in the field – but few
are honest about them, and many do
