In Training for Olympics
December 1st 2005

The British Safety Council has pledged £2 million to help ensure the 2012 Olympics are the safest to date. It is offering to fund the assessment of up to 200 000 Olympic workers to help them gain the BSC awards level 1 Health and Safety at Work certificate.

Commenting on the fund, David Ballard, chief executive of the BSC, says "The most effective way to reduce accidents is to ensure that everyone is properly trained and qualified for what they have to do - and this is where we can help."
