Ready for MACH 2006
February 1st 2006

New respiratory and eye protection products for welders will be unveiled by 3M at MACH 2006 (NEC, Birmingham, 15 to 19 May).

Speedglas auto-darkening filters turn dark the moment an arc is struck, and transparent again when welding stops, protecting the wearer from harmful UV and IR radiation, while providing constant visibility.

A new Speedglas welding shield (available from June) will incorporate a new head cradle, provide four sensitivity levels and good visibility in a low weight, high comfort shield.

3M's Adflo powered air respirators provides integrated protection for the welder. The stackable configuration of the Adflo turbo unit means the gas filter can be stacked onto the particle filter for additional protection from specific organic vapours, inorganic and acid gases.

The new, upgraded system has a five-step particle filter life indicator that shows the loading of the filter and highlights when it needs changing.

HSM will include a preview of MACH 2006 in its April issue.
