Report criticised August 1st 2006 IOSH has slammed the House of Lords Select Committee on Economic affairs for dismissing the dangers of passive smoking in the workplace.
Commenting on the report, Government Policy on the Management of Risk, Neil Budworth, IOSH President, says "We are dismayed that the 600 work-related passive smoking deaths per year are dismissed by their Lordships as 'relatively minor health problems'. They seem unaware that the voluntary approach they suggest simply hasn't worked.
"The idea that workers should be allowed to choose to work in smoky atmospheres is a recipe for exploitation of the needy and ill-informed." More articles from IOSH: |
