Blast-resistant
February 1st 2006

More than 120 specially designed blast-resistant accommodation units have been supplied by Hewden to BP's Coryton refinery in Essex.

The units, designed and built by Ultra Secure Products, are able to withstand a force of up to 320millibar overpressure for 100milliseconds, the equivalent of exerting an 80t force upon the unit.

The units have been fast tracked in their development and will house BP personnel and contractors, while general maintenance work is carried out on fuel tanks and other appliances at the refinery.
