Boom training caught on film
August 1st 2007

AFI-Uplift's training courses for powered access machine operators can be seen on television in September when Brian Parker, general training manager, will appear on the Discovery Channel.

Parker was filmed putting three young people through their paces when he trained them in how to operate a Haulotte HA16PX boom.

For the programme in which he took part, trainees stripped down an aircraft and were taught how to use a boom lift. Parker put them through the IPAF operator's course.

He comments "I enjoyed taking part in the programme, particularly because it will help to promote the safety aspects and benefits of powered access training to a national audience." The filming took place at AFI's London West depot and was for the programme 'Hard Labour', in which young people tackle some of Britain's toughest jobs.
