Vacuum lifting machines is currently making its way to Port Stanley to be used by the Falkland Islands Company.

The petrol-engined Handy, complete with a number of interchangeable vacuum heads, is for use in conjunction with an excavator or wheeled digger for fast and precise handling of a wide range of heavy and awkward loads. It’s extremely versatile: easily mounted or suspended from bucketmounting brackets, there’s no need for hydraulics or electrical connection and suction pads are quickly and easily changed.

Supplied by Aldridge Plant Sales of Horsham, the Handy has a one tonne lifting capacity and will be used by the Falkland Islands Company to handle kerbs, paving slabs, bricks, pipes, railway sleepers and other heavy construction items.

The Handy can reduce the incidence of operator injury, particularly to backs, helping compliance with handling regulations.
