Mettis Aerospace produces precision forged, machined and processed components at its Redditch site. Its employees spend long periods of time on their feet working on the machines that produce the precision parts.

Derek Bond, operations manager, says Such work requires intense concentration while standing for long parts of the day, and can be very tiring. I had a look at some samples from TMC Mats and, after placing them on the manufacturing floor, received positive feedback from the staff.

Standing on the antifatigue mat ensures leg muscles subtly contract and expand as they adjust to the flexibility of the mat. This in turn increases blood flow and the amount of oxygen that reaches the muscles, greatly reducing fatigue. TMC says independent research has shown fatigue levels can be lowered by up to 50%.

The matting installed is Diamond-Plate 415. This has a tough, anti-slip vinyl surface coupled to a soft air-cushioned base for comfort.
