Flat roof solution
February 1st 2007

Gripfit, has won a contract to double the size of the entrance matting for a major supermarket chain, without disrupting traffic flow.

It will do this by fixing a secondary, securely surfacemounted mat beyond the existing mat well.

The low profile, fixed aluminium frame system can be attached to any level, hard floor surface to hold a mat securely in place.

The company's Ben Colbourne believes that wet and dirty entrance areas are not only unsightly, but are unwelcoming and unsafe, resulting in slips, trips and compensation claims. He says that in public buildings entrance matting is frequently too small and of inferior quality.

Flat roof solution Centrica has solved a major roof safety problem using Crossgrip slip resistant matting from Plastic Extruders.

On the flat roofs of two adjacent office blocks, the original black membrane walkways were failing. They not only became very soggy when wet but froze in cold weather and became slippery. As the membrane was adhered to the floor covering, a simple solution was to loose lay Crossgrip matting on top.

The matting is said to provide high slip resistance in all weathers.

Made with flexible 100% PVC, the matting is used on flat roofs, gantries and high level walkways for maintenance access and to protect the roof covering.

The deeply etched open grid surface is self-draining, resistant to UV or bacterial growth and maintenancefree.

Of flexible construction, it is easy to lay and contour and, as wind tunnel tests prove, permanently stable even in hurricane force winds. The matting is supplied in 10m rolls.
