Regular access
February 1st 2004

Safesite has provided Volkswagens head office in Milton Keynes with a solution to ensuring safe roof access for maintenance purposes.

Following a review of health and safety procedures, the company recognised a requirement for a permanent form of roof safety. As with many buildings, machinery such as air con units are housed on the roof which means that regular access is required for maintenance.

Safesites System 2000, a free standing structure provides a solution. The systems cantilever guardrail enables edge protection without the need to mechanically fix the protection system to the roof itself which can lead to damage to the roofs membrane.

Another important factor was that the system did not detract from the aesthetics of the building. Aside from the safety aspects, one of the main reasons we specified the system was that it looked good said Mike Wiltshire of Volkswagen Group UK.
