Safe roof access
June 1st 2007

Safetyworks & Solutions has recently completed an installation on behalf of the London Borough of Camden.

Maintenance crews and external contractors require regular access to the roof of flats on the Oakshot Estate, Euston, so achieving safe and secure access compliant with the HSE guidelines was identified as a priority.

For safe movement around the roof, Easyguard permanent free-standing handrails were installed in conjunction with two bespoke steel walkways.

Easyguard is galvanised to BS/EN 1461 and is lightweight in design and easy to assemble.

For this particular installation, the handrail was powder coated over galvanised steel to enhance the aesthetics of the system.

Easyguard's base plates are fitted with bonded, ribbed rubber mats which include an EPDM foam infill.

The infill reduces heat transference to the roof membrane, thereby helping to reduce membrane degradation.
