Intelligent safety for fall arrest equipment
April 1st 2007

i-Safe from DBI-Sala, part of the Capital Safety Group, combines RFID tagged fall protection equipment and web-based information management to simplify inspection, inventory control and information management of equipment.

i-Safe provides a webportal where the history of an equipment piece can be logged. Users can quickly access the information and identify if a piece of equipment has been involved in a fall or is due for inspection.

RFID tags are programmed with a unique ID which registers the model type and history of equipment. The tags have no battery to limit their life. A PDA reader scans the tags and detects the ID number. Data stored on the PDA can be downloaded to a computer or to the i-Safe web portal. The i- Safe website is hosted by Capital Safety customer service and provides instant access to related safety and equipment information.
