Caters for kitchens
October 1st 2007

Polysafe Ultima, an extra tough sheet vinyl safety flooring from Polyflor has been installed in the kitchen at Wrightington Hospital in Wigan. Specially developed for areas of heavy traffic where enhanced slip resistance is paramount, Polysafe Ultima meets HSE guidelines by achieving a sustainable =40 slip resistance (RRL Pendulum wet test – Four- S/Slider 96 rubber). It also achieves a surface roughness reading of Rz = 70µm, recommended to cope with spills of olive oil, cooking stock and similar high viscosity contaminants in food preparation areas and kitchens.

The product, installed by St Helens-based CMC Flooring – has been independently tested and results demonstrate that it inhibits the growth of MRSA.

An effective cleaning regime is, however, the most important defence against infection.

The product conforms to EN13845, the European Norm for safety flooring.
