Check slip resistance
February 1st 2004 Watco UK is offering the Surtronic Duo that has been developed to allow the user to measure and assess the surface of flooring and work surfaces for slip resistance. The Surtronic Duo can be used on concrete, vinyl, tiles, painted wood and terazzo.
This hand held instrument requires no special training and includes a reference chart for early risk assessment. Readings are in metric or imperial, and the manufacturers offer a full help desk support.
The Surtronic Duo works by a 5micron diamond moving across a sample area to measure the peaks and troughs of the floor surface. The difference between these points indicates how rough or smooth the floor is. The measurement is then checked against a reference chart as used by HSE to categorise the slip potential that can be recorded in a risk assessment file. More articles from Watco UK Limited: |
