DISPENSING DRIER FLOOR SOLUTIONS February 1st 2005 In the catering industry, slips and trips are the main cause of reported serious injury (75%) and all injuries (33%). Of these accidents, 86% are slips and 90% are caused by wet floors. (Source: HSE).
A device is now available that dries a floor after it has been mopped. Using a dispenser that looks a bit like a double broom, DriFlor uses a highly absorbent paper to dry the floor. With each pass, the roll of paper moves on a fraction so that every swipe uses a fresh part of the roll.
The company says the device will leave a typical 2m2 mopped floor dry in 10sec, as opposed to 7min when left to dry naturally.
DriFlor is the brainchild of Addgards director Barry Flynn and it recently won a Chicago Athenaeum Good Design award.
