Not slippery when wet
February 1st 2009

Grip Rock, introduced by Plastic Extruders at Domotex, is a new type of matting which is slip resistant when wet or greasy. It has been designed specially for the dangerous frying areas in kitchens. The hygienic matting is also suitable for preparation areas where oils, spillages and dropped food make safety underfoot vitally important.

This new floor covering provides safety solutions for those high risk areas in the catering industry where slips and trips cause 75% of all reported serious injuries and 33% of all injuries. Slips account for about 86% of the total slips and trips injuries and in 90% of cases the floor was wet or greasy. This risk is greatly increased in frying areas which is why the Health and Safety Executive is reviewing guidance with regard to guarding open frying ranges.

Grip Rock is constructed in three layers, in spite of being only 3 mm thick. It has a tough wearing surface made with ceramic and crushed garnet beads, a fibreglass interlayer to give it strength and a polyurethane backing which grips the floor and restricts creep.

Samples are available.
