Quick to dry
June 29th 2005

Designed to reduce the slip risk presented by wet floors, Driflor from Barema is a paper floor drier that will leave a typical 2m2 mopped floor bone dry in 10sec compared to the 7min taken when a floor is left to dry naturally

Using a dispenser that looks like a double broom, the Driflor instrument uses a highly absorbent paper to dry the floor. With each pass, the roll of paper moves on a fraction so that every swipe uses a fresh part of the roll

The product is the brainchild of Irish entrepreneur Barry Flynn who is director of Addgards. He says “I set about looking at ways to prevent the problem of slips on wet floors. To me the obvious answer was to dry the floor after washing

A three year research and development programme involved trying endless different ways to dry floors in a quick, cheap manner

“With the co-operation of McDonalds restaurants, shopping centres and convenience stores, we have tested 15 different models with different papers and dispensers.”
