Safe entrance
February 1st 2006

Gripfit has launched a new system to comply with the technical requirements and duties contained within the Disability Discrimination Act and BS 8300:2001.

The system comprises an aluminium frame that is fixed to the floor. A loose mat is placed in the frame and an upper aluminium extrusion clamps the mat securely into place.

This has a combined height of 7.5mm and gives a tactile surface. It can handle high volumes of foot traffic, as well as wheeled traffic, and increases the safety of large entrance areas. It can also be installed on slopes and ramps.

Gripfit has been developed in conjunction with entrance matting companies such as 3M and Milliken, access consultants and serviced matting companies. Mats can be serviced on a weekly or fortnightly basis.

Ben Colbourne, MD, says, "New regulations mean companies need to be more aware of their safety obligations. Gripfit solutions ensure companies abide by the changes and provide a safe environment for all employees and visitors."
