The product is referred to as super absorbent due to its versatility in absorbing any kind of liquid or semi-liquid, and turn it to dust on contact. This includes all animal, vegetable, mineral, petroleum, paint and chemical liquids.

Stardust can pick up liquids of any viscosity, from any hard surface, leaving that surface clean and dry.

For that reason, it is described as non-select, meaning it does not have a limited range of effectiveness.
