Safe roof access
October 1st 2008

System 2000 cantilevered guardrail from Safesite has been installed at Brandshatch Hotel & Spa in Kent to ensure safe access to the hotel's roofs for maintenance purposes.

Following a survey and assessment of the roof areas by Safesite, specially fabricated inclined access steps and a vertical access ladder have been installed to allow safe access to the different roof levels, while System 2000 freestanding guardrail has been installed to provide edge protection on the roofs themselves.

The design of the BBAapproved guardrail provided a permanent solution without the need to mechanically fix the protection to the roof itself.

The company says the design overcomes the problems often associated with permanent fixing which can damage the roof membrane, causing leaks and invalidating a roof's protection guarantee.

Safesite is committed to ensuring that work at height is carried out safely and offers advice regarding compliance with the latest legislation, CPD training and workplace health and safety.
