Biohazard protection
June 1st 2006

To prepare Fleet Street's broadcasting and print media news teams for the possibility of a flu pandemic or other biohazard emergency, The Fleet Street Clinic has appointed DuPont Personal Protection to carry out a training session in the proper procedure for selecting, putting on and removing protective gear.

The basic biohazard kit includes a coverall made of Tyvek or Tychem, respirator, safety goggles, gloves and disinfectant wipes.

Ian Samson, European training specialist for DuPont Personal Protection comments "It is not just a case of putting on protective gear and hoping for the best. To get the maximum benefit, people need to understand the risks, understand how to put it on so that all components work in conjunction with each other, take it off correctly and dispose of it in a manner that will not affect their safety or that of their colleagues after exposure to hazardous substances "
