Construction certificate
September 1st 2009

The British Safety Council (BSC) has introduced the NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety. The first training course, aimed at construction industry supervisors, managers and CDM co-ordinators, will be held at the BSC's HQ, London in October.

The decision to provide this course is based on the BSC's submission to the inquiry lead by Rita Donaghy into the underlying causes of fatalities in the construction industry.

"We identified a wide range of issues that urgently needed to be addressed to eliminate construction fatalities: promoting a positive safety culture, the development of competence, and the importance of training," said Neal Stone, the BSC's head of policy and public affairs.
