The HSE has launched a
control campaign to address
vibration and its associated
health risks in three priority
industry sectors: foundries,
heavy steel fabrication and
construction. The inspection
campaign follows new
legislation changing
employers' statutory duties
in relation to workplace
vibration.
One way to discover more
about hand arm vibration is
to attend a HAVs Responsible
Person training course. The
HSE recommends appointing
a responsible person to help
communicate to employees
how the screening
programme works and
symptoms to look our for.
Lynn Moore, operations
manager for Livis, attended
a course run by Express
Medical. She says "We would
certainly recommend the
course to anyone who may
be involved in producing
HAVs documentation, risk
assessments, or purely out
of interest. Overall the
experience has provided us
with a sound knowledge of
HAVs."
