With a fleet of over 2,500 fork lift trucks and over 1,000 lorry mounted cranes, Travis Perkins has an ongoing requirement for training new operators and also making sure that existing employees are regularly 'refresher' trained.

In early 2008, tenders were invited for the provision of fork lift truck and lorry mounted crane training across the group. The main reasons Travis Perkins chose Mentor were: optimising training with lower costs, availability of instructors, the high quality of training and the positive feedback from other Mentor customers.

18 months on, "we have seen cost savings of up to 25%, which have been warmly welcomed," says Mike O'Hara group head of health & safety.
