Safety & Health Expo
April 1st 2006

9-11 May 2006 NEC Birmingham

With a large array of exhibitors and seminars, this year's Safety & Health Expo will provide a great forum for discovering more about the latest products, services and training courses, as well as providing visitors with excellent networking opportunities

Europe's largest dedicated annual event for the health & safety sector, Safety & Health Expo makes its return to the NEC, Birmingham, from 9th to 11th May this year. With more exhibitors signed up than ever before, the 2006 event enjoys the support of major UK health and safety bodies, including the Health & Safety Executive, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, and the British Safety Industry Federation. In addition to the record number of exhibitors, there will be a wide range of other features to ensure visitors feel that time away from the office has been well spent.

RoSPA Congress

Health and safety professionals face two challenges: not only to keep pace with key developments but also to 'share and compare' and benchmark with fellow professionals. The 2006 RoSPA Safety and Health at Work Congress combines both of these elements. This years Congress has been restructured to offer more choice and greater flexibility.

Delegates will benefit from a fresh approach to learning about health & safety by tailoring their own programme from an exhaustive list of topics. They will be able to listen to experts talking about the latest safety and risk management techniques and network with other professionals in their field.

Lord Hunt of Kings Health OBE will open the high profile speaker programme.

Asbestos seminar theatre

Key asbestos bodies will back a free seminar theatre dedicated solely to asbestos-related issues, repeating last year's successful format. Experts from across the industry line up in a programme of seminar sessions covering the entire process - from detection to removal of asbestos - and the issues surrounding this topic.

The Runway sponsored by Uvex

Now firmly established as the focal point of Safety and Health Expo, running across the entire three-day exhibition, The Runway is an industrial-style catwalk showcasing big name brands in the health and safety industry, drawing in crowds of potential buyers four times a day.

Norwich Union Risk Services - Information Theatre

Offering inspiration, education and innovation are three great ways to attract the best visitors, and the Norwich Union Risk Services sponsored Information Theatre manages all three of these. Sessions in 2005 were packed out, demonstrating how visitors really value professional, expert advice from suppliers. Topics presented last year included working at height, noise at work regulations and manual handling.

Access Industry Forum & Access Live

The Access Industry Forum (AIF) will again be held alongside Safety and Health Expo in order to highlight key issues within the access industry. The conference will be opened by Lord Hunt of Kings Health, Minister with Responsibilities for Health and Safety, who will discuss 'Work at Height from Regulations to Action'.

After the success of Access Live at Safety & Health Expo 2005, the floor demonstration area will run again in 2006, showcasing working at height issues.

BSIF Product Innovation Awards

Once again the Safety & Health Expo plays host to the BSIF product innovation awards. These are presented each year to companies that have produced products and/or services, which, in the opinion of the judges, offer a significant contribution in improvements in Occupational Health and Safety and towards a reduction of workplace accidents.

The awards scheme underlines the importance of innovation and the highest standards of excellence within occupational health and safety.

Bulletin

For BSIF members visiting Safety & Health Expo, Stand F90 will provide a hospitality 'club' lounge and business centre in which to relax for a few minutes, talk to friends and colleagues and meet with clients, without having to leave the exhibition floor.

Visitors to the BSIF stand will be able to talk directly with the lead association for the PPE directive in the UK and an HSE designated 'competent' authority.

The federation will also host the Expo's help-desk, which is designed to help visitors get maximum benefit from the exhibition and advise them where they can locate exhibiting safety equipment manufacturers, trainers, test-houses and service providers.
