Avoid putting your back into it
April 1st 2008

With one in four workers suffering from back pain in 2005, it is clear that musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are one of the chief causes of the annual 175m working days lost through absence.

Safety Media's DVD, 'Watch your Back', is designed to teach manual handling staff in a range of workplaces, from offices to warehouses, effective techniques to avoid such injuries.

Dramatic scenarios for different industries show an injury occurring in each location, then training sections can be selected, depending on the needs of the workforce. Sections cover injury prevention, manual handling task assessment, affecting factors, correct positioning, lifting and lowering and pushing and pulling. The DVD comes with 10 training booklets and 50 manual handling assessment forms.

Safety Media says it should enable training without the need for further aids.
